The Good Light On: The Presence of Angels (and a powerful prayer practice)

House of Glory

In early February, I visited a darling little cafe called House of Glory in Grants Pass, Oregon. It’s a faith-driven sweet spot with beautiful light, an emerald green couch, and a daily devotional always turned to the right date.

I claimed the perfect seat by the window on my first visit and cozied up with my laptop and a handmade empanada.

The Presence of Angels

On my second visit, the owner pulled me aside and said, “I wasn’t sure if I should say something when you were here before, but I saw the powerful presence of angels with you, it’s like you were surrounded by them.”

What he didn’t know is that I’d just spent all of January calling on and praying out loud to my angels. The day I walked in marked 40 days of devotion.

Wild. The great mysteries of life continue to enchant me.

I’ll share my 3 Step Prayer & Journal Practice with you at the end of this blog…

Angel Encounters

Although my faith has been a journey, this wasn’t my first rodeo with the angel realm.

  • When I was 5, I slipped climbing up into a treehouse my brother was building and completely blacked out. We’d been cautioned several times because he’d been dropping nails, boards, and tools directly below. When I regained consciousness, I knew I’d been carried by angels because I’d landed an impossible distance away from where I fell, and into soft grass.

  • When I was going through a divorce, I was sobbing in bed one night and cried out, “God, please take this pain away.” I hadn’t prayed in the longest time. The next morning I woke up to an email from a key person at our wedding, saying I’d appeared to them in a dream that night and they felt like they should reach out.

The higher power really knows how to work through people, especially when you’re open to receiving.

A Powerful Prayer & Journal Practice

Step 1 — Prepare

  • Create a space dedicated to this time with the divine, maybe it’s a beautiful altar or just a cozy chair with your journal close by. Something easy and comfy.

  • Light a candle or palo santo (my fave), you can enhance your experience with essential oils, flowers, tea, etc or keep it super simple.

  • Play music that feels meditative (try our playlist below) — I love instrumental tracks that are fairly repetitive to get into a flow state.

Step 2 — Pray

  • I like to close my eyes, find stillness, then call on my higher power, angels, guides, great spirit, etc (whatever feels right to you).

  • Gratitude first, always. Then I pray for guidance and anything weighing on my heart, then I ask God to use me for the greatest good.

Step 3 — Journal

  • Set a timer for however long you wish so you can write without pausing. (I’ve gone 3 mins up to an hour)

  • Write down:

    • How I’m feeling presently

    • What possibilities excite me most (write in extreme detail)

    • A list of names that intrigue me that I want more connection with

    • Free flow list of random things that enter my field while I’m in that meditative state

  • Close with energizing breathwork for AM or a calming sound bath for PM

Profound Effects

Incredible things happen when I stay devoted to this practice. When I started writing down specific names, I kid you not, 6 of them (with blue checkmarks) either texted or connected with me online within the first 2 months.

Most importantly, I feel the most at peace when I practice. The most in love with life. The most connected to the divine.

If you’re someone who struggles with faith, I’ve been there myself. I’d recommend trying this practice for one week (with an open heart) and ask God to be revealed. I believe you’ll be amazed.

To our most high timeline.
